2024
The U45 Unit branch was established in the year 2024, inspired by the rich 60 year history and its loyal fan base. U45 Unit was established to embrace fans across the location and tribe divide; to accommodate fans beyond the traditional AFC fan base largely derived from the Luhya community. This mandate was meant to not only bring-in the non-Luhya, non-location affiliated fan base onboard the AFC Leopard ship, but to also make them feel at home and extend the club’s support to higher/wider reach with the same spirit and comfort as fans from the traditional fan base in other branches.
U45 Unit branch was officially registered with the club and operates as another branch that is autonomously run with a complete board of directors, offices/personnel and bank account. The primary aim of the U45 Unit branch is to mobilize resources for the Club The U45 Unit Branch aims to approach fan engagement with the club through supporters’ branch ownership by shares, thereby providing the club with a sustainable ownership-driven income stream.
The U45 Unit Branch is a Not-for-profit entity that is driven by the vision to have a self-sustained AFC Football Club, owned and resourced by its solid fan base and beyond. The branch is properly governed by a Board of Directors who utilize their corporate expertise and experience to drive the club towards this end.
Objective and Mandate:
The U45 Unit Branch aims at building, connecting and representing all types of AFC Leopards FC fans across Kenya and beyond. It intends to represent the fan, whether you’re a match going fan, silent follower or desire to associate with AFC Leopards Sports Club.
As the most dynamic and diverse branch of the AFC Leopards FC, with over 200,000 members so far, U45 Unit Branch wants to develop collective supporters’ voice and community to build a foundation and platform for fans to support club they so passionately follow and thereby ascertain long-term sustainability of the club’s fortunes.

THE AWARDS GALA
The Maiden Branch Project
The first project for U45 Unit Branch is to organize, finance and implement the first ever AFC Leopards SC Player’s Award Gala, where exceptional and stand-out players will be awarded for their contribution towards the success and progress of the club during the 2023/24 season. AFC Leopards 2023/24 Awards Gala is to take place on Wednesday the 21st of August 2024 where five categories will be awarded; Best player category, Fan’s player category, Players’ player category, Fan of the year category and Best branch category.
Fundraising
U45 Unit branch will raise funds for the event, and the same funds raised will be used to support the club as it prepares for the 2024/25 season. This will be done through direct support in form of donations; through sale of merchandise and finally, through sponsorship by corporate entities and well-wishers. The funds raised, will facilitate the smooth-running of the gala, as it will go into planning and logistics, advertisements and popularization of the event, as well as prize monies. Another portion of the funds will go into commercial projects whose income will support the club’s activities.

Context
Being that the FIFA football season is over in Kenya and around the globe, many fans will be enthusiastic, excited and enticed to watch a sports activity. Banking on the official 6 million registered AFC Fans in the country and millions of other football and sports fans in Kenya and in Africa who follow the Kenya Premier League, this activity is poised to attract a large viewership and following. “It is our aim to deliver an event that is worthy of the time of these fans”.
