2024

The U45 Unit branch was established in the year 2024, inspired by the rich 60 year history and its loyal fan base. U45 Unit was established to embrace fans across the location and tribe divide; to accommodate fans beyond the traditional AFC fan base largely derived from the Luhya community. This mandate was meant to not only bring-in the non-Luhya, non-location affiliated fan base onboard the AFC Leopard ship, but to also make them feel at home and extend the club’s support to higher/wider reach with the same spirit and comfort as fans from the traditional fan base in other branches.

Overall Objectives:

Our core mandate is to mobilize resources for the Club

Pool resources from development partners and donors in support for the AFC leopards events and matches.

Consulting regularly with our match-going fan-base.

Engaging in regular constructive dialogue with senior club executives (in particular on ticket prices, access to matches and merchandise);

Working in collaboration with other branches and fan's groups on common supporter issues and goals;

Leading and supporting national campaigns on supporter interests;

Engaging with national football authorities (FKF), Ministry of sports, politicians and government (National and County) as needed;

Assisting our members with sorting match-related needs such as access to tickets and travel to match venues;

Supporting and bringing the AFC Leopards fans community together locally, nationally and internationally;

Providing regular news, information and advice through our website and other social media platforms;

Providing quality reports and blogs; offering a fan-perspective on AFC Leopards SC activities/progress;;

Offering every fan the chance to own a stake in the club, and thereby securing a formal, effective supporter voice into strategic decisions which affect the club’s future development and sustainable growth;

Developing the opportunity for a united supporter-base that holds collective ownership of the club

THE AWARDS GALA

The Maiden Branch Project

The first project for U45 Unit Branch is to organize, finance and implement the first ever AFC Leopards SC Player’s Award Gala, where exceptional and stand-out players will be awarded for their contribution towards the success and progress of the club during the 2023/24 season. AFC Leopards 2023/24 Awards Gala is to take place on Wednesday the 21^st of August 2024 where five categories will be awarded; Best player category, Fan’s player category, Players’ player category, Fan of the year category and Best branch category.

Fundraising

U45 Unit branch will raise funds for the event, and the same funds raised will be used to support the club as it prepares for the 2024/25 season. This will be done through direct support in form of donations; through sale of merchandise and finally, through sponsorship by corporate entities and well-wishers. The funds raised, will facilitate the smooth-running of the gala, as it will go into planning and logistics, advertisements and popularization of the event, as well as prize monies. Another portion of the funds will go into commercial projects whose income will support the club’s activities.

Best players of the year

It's been an exciting season of progression for our men's team, who finished in the fourth position in the league.. All players who have made a competitive appearance are eligible to win the “Select legend” Best Player of the Year award. This Category will be determined by experts based on performances supported by statistics.

Players' Player of the year

Receiving this prize from your team-mates is a huge sign of respect. Secrets ballots will take place among the team mates to determine who wins; this will be run by the team’s management. win the “Select legend” Best Player of the Year award. This Category will be determined by experts based on performances supported by statistics.

Fans Player of the year

All players who have made a competitive appearance are eligible to win the “Select legend” Best Player of the Year award. A poll supported by U45 Unit branch will be run and fans across the country and region will have a chance to cast their vote. This process will be transparent free and fair

Branch of the Year

The team branch of the year will be determined by fan's votes.

Fan of the Year

AFC Leopards SC branches will nominate fans who will be voted in by all fans.

Context

Being that the FIFA football season is over in Kenya and around the globe, many fans will be enthusiastic, excited and enticed to watch a sports activity. Banking on the official 6 million registered AFC Fans in the country and millions of other football and sports fans in Kenya and in Africa who follow the Kenya Premier League, this activity is poised to attract a large viewership and following. “It is our aim to deliver an event that is worthy of the time of these fans”.
